Tony Jones – Director
Tony has a degree in Building Energy Engineering and an HNC in Building Services (Mechanical). He has wide experience of all types of buildings and has been responsible for the entire life cycle of projects from concept to completion. Projects have included a wide spectrum of building types, including heritage, education, hospitals, commercial and specialist applications. Clients include private, local and regional Authorities, NHS Trusts, National Trust, contractors, developers, MoD and other high profile/blue chip companies.
Tony is a full member of the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (MCIBSE) and the Institute of Health Care Engineering & Estate Management (MIHEEM) and a Chartered Engineer (CEng).
Paul Trew – Director
Paul joined MTA in 2013 and has over 10 years’ experience in designing mechanical services for buildings, within both new and historical buildings, in many building sectors. Paul’s particular interest is the incorporation of low and zero carbon technologies into historic buildings, and how this can be achieved in a way in keeping with the sensitivities of such buildings.
Paul is a Chartered Engineer with the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (MCIBSE) and a registered CIBSE Certified Low Carbon Consultant.
Graham Cook – Senior Engineer (Mechanical)
Graham has an honours degree in Environmental Engineering (Mechanical) and an HND in Public Health Engineering which is combined with over 23 years of design experience on a wide range of Mechanical Services projects, including Heritage, Education, Healthcare, MOD, residential and commercial buildings.
Graham is a qualified Plumber and Heating Engineer, having completed a full apprenticeship upon leaving school and is therefore able to fully understand the practicalities of each solution offered.
As a full member of the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (MCIBSE) and, being a Chartered Engineer with the Engineering Council, he is experienced in all aspects of project delivery.
Paul Bryant – Senior Engineer (Electrical)
Paul jointed MTA in 2016 with considerable experience as an Electrical Engineer where he accumulated knowledge of a wide range of projects from initial concept design through to completion. His project experience is in education, healthcare, industrial, rail, MOD, commercial and residential. Since joining MTA, Paul has successfully transitioned into the Heritage sectors with clients such as the National Trust, English Heritage, churches and private and publically owned listed buildings.
Paul is a Licentiate member of the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (LCIBSE).
Sam Cunningham – Engineer (Mechanical)
Sam graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. From his degree courses and time on placement, Sam gained knowledge in many areas relating to buildings services with a wide range of budgets and performance requirements.
Sam has experience in the design of mechanical building services, thermal modelling and feasibility studies. He has worked on heritage refurbishments and new buildings and past projects have included churches, museums, castles, houses, school and manufacturing facilities.
Sam is a Graduate Member of the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (GCIBSE).
Thomas Campbell – Engineer (Electrical)
Thomas joined MTA in October 2020. He is currently in the final stage of completing his degree and has over 6 years’ experience within the Building Services Engineering Sector. Thomas has worked on historical buildings, as well as refurbishment and new build projects in different sectors. Thomas has experience in report and specification writing in regards to electrical building services engineering.
Outside of work, Tom enjoys supporting Southampton FC, whether on TV or in the Stadium, walking in the New Forest and exploring the local restaurants and pubs.
Michael Allen – Graduate Engineer (Mechanical)
Michael has a solid foundation in Mechanical Engineering, earned through a bachelor’s degree. After the completion of his degree, he embarked on a journey within the building services sector with Martin Thomas Associates as a graduate Mechanical Engineer.
Joining MTA last year, as an aspiring new professional, he has gained valuable experience and knowledge within the Heritage building sector. This experience was gained through the completion of feasibility studies, specifications, and thermal models.
Due to diverse assignments and shadowing accomplished colleagues, he has developed his technical skillset, aiding his continual growth and professional development as a GCIBSE Engineer.
Outside of the professional realm, Michael is an avid fitness enthusiast. Whether it’s hitting the gym or lacing up running shoes. He achieved a personal milestone this year with the completion of the Southampton Movember half marathon.

Roz Tucker – CAD Manager
Roz began her career starting on the drawing board at 17 as a tracer. This led to natural progression to CAD in the late 1990s and she completed both ONC and HNC in Building Services Engineering. Roz now has an overall M&E draughting experience of 35 years. During this time, she has worked on a wide spectrum of Building Services projects including historic, residential, commercial, educational, leisure and private residences.
Liane Childs – Office and Finance Manager
After a very successful career working in the Thoroughbred Breeding industry, Liane returned home to Hampshire. After spending 5 years working for one of the most prominent financial products provider’s in the financial services industry, managing high net worth accounts, Liane now manages our office and the accounts.
