Brief Description

The Banqueting House is the only remaining part of the Palace of Whitehall. Building began in 1619 and was completed in 1622 in neo-classical style, designed by Inigo Jones. The style was a major influence on English Architecture. In 1635 Rubens was commissioned to paint the impressive ceiling.

Today the building is a Grade I listed National Monument open to the public and is undergoing a major refurbishment.
