Walmer Castle

Brief Description

Walmer Castle is the summer residence of the Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports, transformed from a Tudor Fortress in the 18th/19th Centuries. The historic pleasure gardens became obscured and English Heritage is embarking on the project to provide a new attraction for visitors to the Castle. The project is made possible by a £1.35m Heritage Lottery Fund grant.

The project incorporated installation of play and playable elements with interpretation, supported by new and improved facilities for visitors, including a new garden café, toilets and education centre, with new facilities for gardeners and volunteers.
