Hadlow Tower is a magnificent Grade I listed Gothic Revival folly standing 64 metres tall, with an extraordinary history. The building had fallen into disrepair and was badly damaged in the storms of 1987. In the mid-1990s, the local council carried out emergency measures to make it safe and in 1998 the World Monument Fund listed it as one of the top 100 most endangered historic buildings.
Ownership was transferred to the Vivat Trust in 2011 who secured English Lottery Funding for its refurbishment. As part of the team, Vivat employed Martin Thomas Associates to design the electrical and mechanical systems for the Tower. It now offers luxurious holiday accommodation with spectacular views and opens as a museum on Thursdays in the summer months.
More information on the project can be found on the Vivat Trust Website.
